I had my first song-writing showcase in London at “The Phoenix”, I was quite nervous.
I had so many instruments to carry, my keyboard, my guitar so I decided to drive there. I only had 12kilometres to travel and it took me literally 3 hours 9, got lost! At one stage I was ringing my mum who was coming across London to her hotel in a taxi. The taxi driver was giving me instructions!!! My mum is buying me a sat-nav!!
I had left enough time just in case, so I was there in plenty of time
The Phoenix is a great pub located on Cavendish Square. Daniel Joe presents a great acoustic night on Sunday evenings. He gave me a featured slot so that I could show case five of my songs.
I decided to showcase three new songs that are coming out in November:
My Angel, a soulful ballad song; I played the keyboard to this song
Ooh-Wooh, a bluesy song; again I played the keyboard
Incurably Unhappy which is a blues song, which I played on the keyboard aswell.
Strange Gal , which is on www.myspace.com/vickyrobsoncapps: I used the guitar as my instrument with
Then I finished with Daince as a big band style finale. The video to which you can see on www.youtube.com/vickyrobsoncapps
Daniel was great as he let me use my backing tape for Daince due to the fact that it’s difficult to fit a big band into The Phoenix!!
I was going to use my electric acoustic guitar for “Strange Gal”, which was given to me by my mum as an early Christmas present but there was no sound, so I had to use someone else’s guitar. Everyone was so generous allowing people to use their musical instruments.
I loved playing in the Phoenix as it had an intimate atmosphere and the audience were great as well as the promoter, Daniel Joe and the rest of the artists.
I will certainly go back with some new material to The Phoenix
Keep looking at www.myspace.com/vickyrobsoncapps in November for my new songs.
Meanwhile, been watching the X Factor, soo upset Miss Frank are out! Can’t believe John and Edward are still going through.
